Keeping the Home Cool For Less

Saving on AC bill

Simple Summer Tips and Tricks

With the summer heat about to hit our moving company in St. George UT we are always looking to make our offices a few degrees cooler. We do the same thing for our homes when we aren’t working, so here are a few tips to help you keep your home cooler in the summer without spending the money to do so. We would love to help you keep your home cool without having to dish out the air conditioning costs!

1. Open the Windows at Night!

This is the oldest trick in the book because it is the most effective. The idea is made even more effective if you put fans near windows on the north side to push cool air in and put fans facing out the southern windows to push hot air out. This will create a wonderful cross flow of cool air that will get all the hot air out of the house! Also, the added bonus is that your home will have completely fresh air in the morning.

2. Tune up Your Air Conditioner Annually

Whether you do it, or you hire outside help to make the tuneup happen, a tune up will make a big difference in the efficiency of your air conditioner, which makes a big difference in the cost of your bill over time. Also, if you tune up your air conditioner your unit will last longer.

3. Put up Drapes or Curtains

It is easy to forget that the sun is what causes the heat in our homes. Therefore the simple solution is to stop the sun from invading our home! Installing blinds on your south, east, and west windows to cut down on extra heat is a great way to keep the temperature low.

4. Turn a Fan Into a Air Conditioner

An easy way to cool your home to to place a frozen jug of water in front of fans to create a DIY air conditioner. Then when the jug isn’t frozen anymore… refreeze it and do it all over again!

We hope that this helps you stay a little cooler during the heat stricken St. George summers. As a moving company in St. George UT we’ll enjoy the perks of some of these tips, and so should you!
