Four Ways to Pack Fragile Items

Sometimes our most prized possessions tend to be the most fragile. This is problematic when moving because the process of moving can be hard on these possessions if not handled with care. Here at Crown Moving we take special care with these possessions and we are here to help you with some tips to help keep your stuff safe.

Be sure to wrap your fragile belongings in newspaper of tissue paper to help protect them.

  • Lots of Newspaper

Be sure to have something to fill your boxes with besides the glassware of china you’re trying to move. It is inevitable that things will shift around in the move, so if you aren’t careful, they will get damaged from the sliding and bumping around. That’s why it is important to either use crinkled up newspaper or packing peanuts to help reduce the space these delicate objects have to slide around and get damaged.

  • Label Fragile Boxes

By labeling the important boxes, you will know exactly what you are carrying and how you should care for them. This will also help you to put them in a safe spot within the moving truck that will assure their safety during the drive to your new home. Being aware is half the battle, so be sure to always label your fragile boxes.

  • Wrap Each Object

Wrap each individual item that you are going to be placing in the box. Use bubble wrap or newspaper to give them the cushion and insulation they need to prevent chipping or shattering against one another. This can be time consuming, but when it comes to your most prized possessions it is definitely worth the time to make sure they arrive to your new place in one piece.

  • Avoid Packing Them with Everything Else

Depending on how many fragile possessions you have, you should avoid putting them in the back of the truck with everything else. Assuming you are keeping your cars, place the few boxes with your delicate things in the back of your car or on the seat of the moving truck inside the cab with you. If you can’t avoid putting them in the back of the moving truck with the rest of your belongings, be sure to place them on top or in a spot where nothing could land on them and break them during the drive.

When all else fails, just give us a call and we can help you to pack your belongings so that they are safe and make it to your new home in one piece.
